How to Pack for the Caribbean as a Bohemian Traveler!

How to Pack for the Caribbean as a Bohemian Traveler!

The Boho Packing Checklist for Women

Are you preparing for your next trip to Curaçao and wondering what to pack to be both practical and fashionable?

Don't worry, we've got you!
Here are a few
must-have items — in no particular order!

Swimwear

Bringing your bikini or one-piece swimsuit is a no-brainer. Whether you want to take a dip in our jacuzzi, the pool at 't Klooster, or in the clearest sea you will ever see, you will need swimwear.

Are you into snorkeling? Bring your mask, snorkel, and fins if you have them! This way, you can explore the underwater world anywhere you go. If you don’t have them, many places here rent them out.

Note: In-room towels are not for outside use, but our front office team will happily provide beach towels.

Footwear

Start with the obvious: your favorite flip-flops! You are heading to an island with some of the world’s most beautiful beaches.

Also, pack a pair of sneakers, perfect if you’re into adventures, working out, or hiking (for example, Christoffelberg). Closed shoes are essential as you may encounter cacti on hikes!

And don’t forget a cute pair of sandals or heels for fun nights out or strolling around the city.

Toiletries

Like any trip, bring your essentials:

  • Toothbrush & toothpaste
  • Lotion, shampoo & conditioner
  • Mosquito spray, anti-bite gel, and sunscreen (we recommend buying these here to save space in your luggage).

If you use make-up or hair styling products, bring them, but going natural is also totally fine!

Electronics

Bring your camera or phone to capture island memories. BOHO Bohemian Boutique Hotel and Willemstad are perfect for stunning photos!

If you're into diving or snorkeling, a GoPro is highly recommended to capture the vibrant underwater life.

Also, pack your laptop (if working remotely), chargers, Kindle or e-reader.

Clothes

Pack clothes based on your plans:

  • A flowy dress for discovering colorful street art.
  • Shorts or a skirt for the beach or happy hour.
  • Basic tees for casual moments.
  • Pajamas or comfy clothes for relaxing at BOHO hotel.
  • Sportswear for adventures.
  • Party/cocktail attire for nights out.
  • And of course, underwear — unless you’re going fully "go with the flow"!

Dress code tip: You can wear what you want, but some Pietermaai spots appreciate a smart casual look at night. Locals dress up nicely for dinners or drinks, especially at non-beach venues.

And remember: while you can be casual, respect for local culture is important. For example, it’s not appreciated to enter shops, supermarkets, or other places barefoot or in just a bikini. So, take this trip as a chance to unleash your inner island fashionista!

Accessories

Accessories complete your look! Pack:

  • Favorite jewelry
  • Sunglasses, cap, or hat for sun protection
  • One (or more) cute bags to carry your essentials

A Journal

Bring a journal and pen to capture special memories, reflections, or sketches. Journaling can help you start your day with intention or end it with gratitude, and lets you relive your experiences later.

Travel Documents & Essentials

Don’t forget:

  • Prescription medication (important as some meds might not be available here)
  • Passport, flight tickets, and travel insurance (seems obvious, but easily forgotten!)
  • Fill out the Curaçao immigration form online before traveling.

That’s it! You’re ready for paradise! See you soon, and safe travels!
